Commandments Discipline for Lent
Take each of these commandments from Leviticus 19:1-2, 11-18 (yes, I know there are more than 10) and come up with a positive commandment and action for each. You don't have to take on all 14. This is your Lenten discipline so each action must be something you specifically can do during Lent.
1. "You shall not steal" becomes "I shall give to our food pantry each week of Lent."
2. "You shall not deal falsely" becomes _______________
3. "You shall not lie to one another" _______________
4. "You shall not swear by my name" _______________
5. "You shall not defraud your neighbor" _______________
6. "You shall not keep the wages of a laborer until morning" _______________
7. "You shall not revile the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind" _______________
8. "You shall not render an unjust judgment" _______________
9. "You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great" _______________
10. "With justice you shall judge your neighbor" _______________
11. "You shall not go around as a slanderer among the people" _______________
12. "You shall not profit by the blood of your neighbor" _______________
13. "You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin" _______________
14. "You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people" _______________
Remember, each of your positive commandments should include a positive action you can commit to during Lent.
Avoid using the word "not" for example, in #5. "I will not defraud my neighbor." Instead, go for something like "I will send my sick neighbor a get well card and take them flowers."
